They mention that the US is now the #1 consumer of mezcal in the world, with Mexico now in second, and its popularity only continues to grow. They list their favorite 9 brands of mezcal, but one wonders if they have really spent any time with, or even tried, more than a handful of the approximately 400 brands of mezcal being exported. Their bias would seem to be towards the “upscale” and the celebrity brands (no suprise Clooney’s makes the list).
Nonetheless, the article gives the unitiated a decent intro into what mezcal is and why to go about getting to know it better.
